Human & Horse Academy
Privacy policy

How we handle your data.

You leave data with us when you place an order, start a home study or sign up for the newsletter. Here you can read exactly what we do with it, how long we keep it and what you can arrange yourself.

Version August 2026GDPRWe never sell your data

Who is responsible

Human & Horse Academy, Harskamperweg 22A, 3774 JP Kootwijkerbroek, The Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce 64936813, is responsible for processing your personal data on humanhorseacademy.nl and in the shop. Questions about privacy go to academy@humanhorse.nl or +31 342 484 140.

Which data we process and why

Orders in the shop

When you order a product we process your name, address, email address, phone number, the products ordered and the payment status. We need this to carry out the agreement: handle the payment, deliver the parcel and keep you informed. Your order data is stored in our database at Supabase (servers in the EU). Payment runs through Mollie, which processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We pass your name, address and, where given, phone number to the carrier so they can deliver your parcel.

Your account

If you create an account we keep your name, email address, password (encrypted) and your order history, so you can look back at your orders and do not have to fill in your details every time. Legal basis: performance of the agreement. You can have your account deleted at any time.

Home studies and courses

When you enrol in a home study or course we process your name, address, email address, phone number, date of birth and payment details. For the learning platform (Huddle) we create an account on your email address. For courses we also keep your attendance, assessments and the diploma or certificate. Legal basis: performance of the agreement and, for the diploma register, our legitimate interest in being able to confirm diplomas later on.

Newsletter and sample chapter

If you request the free sample chapter or sign up for the newsletter, we use your email address and, if given, your first name to send you the document and then our newsletter. Legal basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom; unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Contact and enrolment forms

When you fill in a form (contact, internship, press, enrolment) we process what you enter there: usually your name, email address, phone number and your message. We only use it to answer your question or process your enrolment. Legal basis: performance of the agreement or our legitimate interest in responding to your message.

WhatsApp

If you send us a WhatsApp message on +31 6 30496287 we see your phone number, your name as set in WhatsApp and your message. WhatsApp (Meta) processes those messages under its own terms. Please do not use WhatsApp for sensitive information such as medical details about you or your horse; email those instead.

Cookies and statistics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, for how long and from which device. Your IP address is masked and we do not share data with Google for advertising. Videos on the site load through youtube-nocookie.com, so YouTube only sets cookies once you play a video. The map on the contact page comes from Google Maps and may set Google cookies when it loads. Functional cookies (cart, login session) are always set; the site needs them to work. Statistics and marketing cookies are only set if you give consent in the cookie notice. You can change your preferences there at any time.

Who we share data with

We never sell your data. We only share it with parties we need to do our work, and with each of them we have agreements on security and confidentiality:

  • Supabase: database and accounts (hosted in the EU)
  • Vercel: hosting of the website
  • Mollie: payments
  • PostNL or DHL: parcel delivery
  • Huddle: online learning platform for home studies and courses
  • Google: statistics (Analytics, Tag Manager), video (YouTube) and maps (Maps)
  • our email and newsletter provider for sending emails
  • our accountant and the Dutch tax authority, as far as the law requires

Some of these parties process data outside the EU, in particular Google and Meta. This happens on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

How long we keep data

  • Orders and invoices: 7 years, because the Dutch tax authority requires it.
  • Account: as long as your account exists. If you delete it, we erase it within 30 days, except the invoice data that falls under the tax retention obligation.
  • Enrolments and diplomas: course data 7 years (tax); the diploma register with name and date is kept as long as the academy exists.
  • Forms and email: 1 year after the last contact, unless an agreement results from it.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that we only keep an unsubscribe record, so we do not email you again.
  • Statistics: Google Analytics keeps data for a maximum of 14 months.

Your rights

You may always ask which data we hold about you. You can have it corrected or deleted, object to a processing, have a processing restricted and request your data in a readable file to take to another party (data portability). If you have given consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email your request to academy@humanhorse.nl. We respond within 1 month. To make sure the request really comes from you, we may ask you to confirm your identity.

If you feel we are not handling your data properly, we would like to hear it from you first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Security

The site and the shop run entirely over https. Passwords are stored encrypted and payments run through Mollie, so your bank details never reach our servers. Only staff who need it for their work have access to order data, through a personal account with two-step verification. If you discover a security issue, please email academy@humanhorse.nl.

Children

Our shop and courses are intended for people aged 16 and over. If you are younger, please ask a parent or guardian to place the order or enrolment.

Changes

If we change this policy, we put the new version on this page with a new date. This version is from August 2026.
