I am Greetje Hakvoort, and for as long as I can remember, my life has revolved around horses. Whether you want to become an instructor, already are one, or work with horses as a hobby, my goal is to make horse training simple for everyone. The foundation of this simplicity lies in good communication between you and your horse, so that he truly understands what you are asking of him.
The method is built up in small steps you can take at home in your own arena, with the horse you have now. No prior knowledge needed. True connection arises when you choose trust, listening and collaboration.
In 2011 Greetje was the first in the world to develop guasha therapy for horses. Gentle, effective techniques that release tension and support the body. Training and therapy reinforce each other: a supple body learns more easily.
Not focused on control or performance, but on contact, awareness and clear communication. By slowing down and truly looking at what happens, there is room for insight and a partnership that works.
The four ways of working build on each other. What you build on the ground, you take with you to lunging, work in hand and finally the saddle.
This is where everything starts. Groundwork is all about communication and attunement: you learn to see and feel what is happening in the moment between you and your horse, and how your posture and energy play a part in it.
From a distance you refine the communication and the aids. You see straight away how your horse reacts to your posture, your energy and your timing, without walking physically beside him.
Close to the horse you work on refining communication, posture and timing. The inside and outside reins provide direction and support, in preparation for riding.
Under the saddle everything comes together. What you built up earlier in contact and attunement becomes tangible in motion here. All the way to piaffe and riding on the neck rope.
You choose how you learn. At home with the book and videos, in a practical course at the Academy, or in English through the international programme. The home study is the basis of all three.

Become a certified trainer and instructor or guasha therapist. Small groups of no more than 12 to 16 participants, with your own horse and personal guidance from the teachers. Taught in Dutch, international students welcome.
