What if the gateway to Sandeloria really existed? A conversation with the two girls from our story

Sandeloria is a world filled with magic, animals, friendship, and adventure. But what do children themselves think about such a world? We asked our two girls, aged 5 and 12.

Sandeloria is a world filled with magic, animals, friendship, and adventure. But what do children themselves think about such a world? We asked our two girls, aged 5 and 12. One with the wonderful imagination of a five-year-old, and the other old enough to look just a little further beyond the magic.

And, of course, they each got their own questions…

For our youngest adventurer, 5-year-old Sunnery

If you found the gateway to Sandeloria tomorrow, what would you do first?

“Well, first I would secretly steal a magic stone to save the world with. Good, right?”

Which animal from Sandeloria would you like to take home as your friend?

“A baby horse, my little pony Rumi Magnum, because she appears in Part 2.”

If you could have one magical power of your own, which one would you choose?

“Well, the world-saving power, to save the world, and ice and snow powers just like Elsa.”

If you could invent something new for Sandeloria, what would happen?

Sun: “Well, there were monsters in Sandeloria, and I would stop them with magical powers.”

Jolie: “There would be a dark witch (queen/leader), and I would discover a secret tunnel under the sea with the characters from Sandeloria. We would go underwater through the tunnel and have to defeat the witch. On the other side of the tunnel, there would be lots of bad people who needed to be healed.”

For our 12-year-old adventurer, Jolie

What is it like to see yourself as a character in Sandeloria?

“I like being part of this story together with the animals and my little sister.”

Which part of the story feels most like something you could actually experience yourself?

“That I go looking for the little squirrel (my little sister).”

What do you hope other children will feel or take away after reading Sandeloria?

“A nice feeling, that they enjoy the book and take the story with them to their own horse.”

If you could step through the gateway again, what absolutely should happen in the next adventure?

“My little sister Sunnery. But she actually wants to stay a squirrel. Very funny.”

We’re very curious to see whether their answers give us a little glimpse of what might be waiting for us behind the gateway someday…
